It appears that Shane McMahon’s return on RAW last night may be the first step of a revival of the brand extension. There has been a lot of talk within the company of bringing back the brand extension in some form or another, which would suggest that the stipulations of Shane McMahonvs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania in Hell in a Cell could lead to Shane controlling RAW while The Authority controls SmackDown.
For those who are newer or don’t recall the specifics, the brand extension ran from 2002 to 2011 and say each show have its own roster, announcing teams and creative teams. There was only occasional crossover initially, occurring on the biggest PPVs of the year, although that eroded over time.
Also, a May 23rd RAW taping in Baltimore, Maryland is listed as “Monday Night RAW vs. WWE.” This is the taping directly after the May 22nd PPV, which was just changed to be Extreme Rules.
Finally somebody listen to us!!!
