Smackdown, January 28th

After a weak RAW and a weaker NxT I was really not really excited about Smackdown hoping to be proved wrong. I’m still waiting…

The New Day and Miz vs. Usos, Titus O’Neil and Dolph Ziggler

Good for what it was, but usually is hard to make a compelling match with this amount of wrestlers in the ring if not enough time is allotted.

That was the case.

Kalisto vs. Neville

The only interesting match that looked good on paper from the show and really delivered.

This match worked great in contrast with the one in RAW against the Miz. Maybe the style? Kalisto needs to learn to work with all styles for his reign to work.

AJ Styles vs. Curtis Axel

Great to see the Social Outcasts getting some TV time. Sadly it was clear who would win here. A solid match that shows how underused Axel is. He looked pretty good on this match.

Also we got the first Styles Clash.

Charlotte vs. Natalya

It’s always great to see Natalya in the ring. Was a pretty good match but they have had better.

Interesting that Becky made the save at the end. I guess she is still in the title picture. A triple threat would be awesome!

The Wyatt Family vs. Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

An OK match that basically came out of nowhere. I’m more concerned about what I see in the ring, but stories do add to the match itself.

It was a bit better show than RAW in average, but compared to the Rumble is still a step in the wrong direction. By now all the buzz and steam from the Rumble is long gone.

Too many big team matches for one show. It’s looking like lazy booking throwing feuds into a blender and getting everyone in a match. Reigns looks like he forgot about the title and HHH and is focusing in other things after it being everything for him?
